Ask about the whole bill, not the headline
Ask what the visit costs on its own, then ask what any proposed care would add. Keep those answers separate.
A visit price may leave out the medicine
Six national online weight-care services advertised prices checked as of September 26, 2026.
Cash visit prices, without insurance, ranged from $38 to $129.
Standard monthly memberships ranged from $19.99 to $149, with medicine charged separately.
These were advertised charges from a small sample, not a survey of all clinics. No purchase was made to check the final bill.
Ask what your first appointment costs and whether it starts a monthly membership. Get the current charges in writing.
| Check | What to ask or confirm |
|---|---|
| Visit or membership | What is the charge, and does it renew? |
| Medicine | Is it included, or billed separately? |
| Tests | What tests do you propose, and who will charge me for each one? |
| Later care | Are follow-up visits and messages included? |
Different price labels mean different bills
Start with this question: What will I personally pay for this medicine? Say whether you plan to use insurance or pay yourself.
List price means the price published by the maker. It can differ from what you pay.
The price offered when you pay without insurance is called a cash offer. A discount-card price is the price using that card.
An insured copay is your share of the cost through insurance. A government programme can have its own price.
Compare the same product, how it is taken, how much is supplied, and how long it lasts. Ask for the price after any introductory offer ends.
Put the terms beside the price
Is this for the visit alone or for ongoing membership?
What will I owe if no medicine is prescribed?
What changes after the introductory period?
How do I end recurring charges?
What would tests, delivery, or further visits add?
If the total is still unclear, ask for an itemised estimate. Itemised just means each charge is listed separately.
